I have been a journalist for more than 30 years and have worked at newspapers and media organisations in Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire.

During 10 years as Editor of The Westmorland Gazette, the newspaper won numerous industry awards, including the North West Weekly Newspaper of the Year in 2019.

I introduced strategies which led to massive growth in website page impressions and unique users.

I have an extensive range of contacts in Cumbria, Lancashire, Yorkshire and beyond in the fields of the media, business, education, tourism, health and farming. With a firm understanding of the way the media operates at a local, regional and national level, I know the stories that interest newspapers, broadcast and online operations and who to speak to in order to maximise the potential of having your stories published in a prominent manner.

My experience in project management included handling The Westmorland Gazette’s transition from broadsheet to compact format.

I organised fund-raising campaigns which generated tens of thousands of pounds for local charities.

I have a BA (Honours) degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Durham and hold all the nationally-recognised journalism qualifications.
